The Amberley Hotel is a 15 bed-roomed hotel catering for approx.30 guests. My role is very diverse, and it has changed according to the needs of the business over the last few months, but my main responsibilities are as follows:
- Assist the owners in the day to day running of the hotel.
- Assist the chef with preparation of daily changing menus for guests.
- (3 course set dinner menu, bar specials and an al carte menu).
- Ensure a clean working kitchen environment.
- Keep control of stock and ordering.
- Provide support and assistance to part-time staff at service times.
- Cover for the chef when they are off.
- Cook breakfast and dinner when the owner/chef is on holiday.
- Assist the chef ensuring that the meals are correctly served.
- Assist in a bar when busy.
- Cook for functions with owners.
- Undertake reception duties as necessary.
- Accurate customers' accounts.
- General office duties filing, typing, faxing, responding to emails etc.
- I have designed the hotel web page and assisted in its settings.
- Typing up new menus and wine lists etc.
- Cover for any staff that do not show.
