Student Ambassador + Student Parliament - Wexham School Sports College - Slough, Berkshire
(2022-10 - 2024-07)
I engaged with my college community through my volunteer role as a student ambassador, assisting in events and open days. This experience taught me how to work in rotating teams and how to effectively distribute people to make sure all areas were covered even with a limited number of volunteers. It also allowed me to build on my communication skills with young people and parents who were interest in the college.
The student parliament was a similar position, but it focused more on the students already enrolled in the college. I would collect people opinions and concerns and bring them forward in meetings with other members to try find solutions for them. An example of that being our colleges outside area was rarely used and students didn't want to go out there as there was nothing to do.
So, my group and I suggested the college should install parasols onto the tables as during the summer it meant people could go outside and enjoy the shade, which ended up being very effective.
