There has always been a creative urge within me, or a desire to do something a little out there. I fell in love with the fluidity of creating, how even changing one line of dialogue or one camera angle can change the flow of the whole piece. This was something I had always subconsciously been aware of, hunting down directors’ cuts of films or the alternative endings for years to see what was different, how an extra 10 minutes of footage can change everything.
It was something I excelled at academically too, receiving an A in Film Studies at A level, a Distinction* in BTEC Film Production and a B in Media studies, and most recently a 2:2 in Film, TV & Theatre Production at university. Film and TV has been where I’ve found my strengths, working collaboratively as a team with both the cast and crew at different levels in the creative chain to create the best product possible, with one of the projects I directed –
The Last to Leave the Party – being nominated for the LGBTQIA+ award at Tees Valley International Film Festival, and another I camera opped and edited - Bruised - currently doing the festival tour where I also got the opportunity to work with a BBC writers room alumni.
