Aspen HYSYS V11Aspen Plus

About

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Petrochemical Industry, an MSc in Petrochemical Industry Engineering, and an MSc in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering (Merit) from the University of Bradford. Hands-on process engineering experience gained through two industrial internships in the Algerian petrochemical sector, using Aspen HYSYS and Aspen Plus for process simulation, reactor design, and technical-economic analysis. Currently combining full-time supervisory work with continued professional development, bringing strong leadership, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills.

Seeking an entry-level graduate opportunity in chemical, process, or energy engineering in the UK.

Experience

Process Engineering Intern at Sonatrach CP2K (HDPE), in partnership with TotalEnergies (2024-01 – 2024-06)

  • Ran an optimisation study for boil-off ethylene (BOG) recovery from cryogenic storage tanks in the HDPE production complex.
  • Simulated Joule–Thomson and Claude refrigeration cycles in Aspen HYSYS V11 using multiple refrigerants (propane, propylene, nitrogen, ammonia).
  • Modelled BOG recovery rates of 450–1,100 kg/h (up to 9,240 t/year of ethylene), converted at a 95% HDPE yield.
  • Delivered a technical and economic comparison across 4 refrigerants, identifying propane as the optimal choice — projecting an estimated annual profit of $5.63M against $664,868 in operating expenses (~8.5x return), while reducing flaring losses.

Process & Mechanical Design Intern at Petrofac / Sonatrach (2025-06 – 2025-06)

  • Designed and evaluated an integrated PDH–PP plant (550,000 t/y capacity) for the Arzew Industrial Zone, using UOP Oleflex PDH and LyondellBasell Spheripol technology.
  • Built process simulations and material/energy balances in Aspen HYSYS V11 and Aspen Plus; developed the PFD for the PP unit.
  • Designed a 96 m³ CSTR reactor (R-100) to ASME Section VIII, sizing a 36.4 MW cooling duty across 2,472 internal tubes (~1,100 m² heat transfer area) to sustain a 55–60% single-pass conversion.
  • Built an economic feasibility model projecting a £8.22M capital cost, £580.98M/yr in product sales, and a 2.87-year payback period at a 20% target rate of return — confirming the commercial viability of large-scale PP production.

Hub Operative Supervisor at Lalys Pharmacy (2025-10 – Present)

  • Oversee daily hub operations to ensure a smooth, efficient workflow in a busy pharmacy environment.
  • Coordinate tasks and support team performance while upholding accuracy, safety, and operational standards.

Security Supervisor at FGH Security (2024 – Present)

Part-time

  • Supervise daily security operations, manage access control, and respond promptly to incidents or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate reports and documentation, support shift coordination, and demonstrate leadership and professionalism under pressure.
