I consider that I am able to foster excellent relationships with students and colleagues. I take an interest in young people's reading especially and in 2021 I was awarded a certificate for leading the most successful Carnegie Teenage Reading Shadowing Group. I am new to the Cheltenham area and I am keen to return to a teaching timetable, as I enjoy encouraging whole classes to meet and exceed targets for examination success.
Over the years, I have created excellent teaching resources and schemes of work which I continually update. Currently, I am working on a book for GCSE English Literature candidates aimed at demystifying Shakespeare. In my spare time I enjoy most sports, cryptic crosswords, keeping fit and films.
I am a highly experienced teacher of English. I have been head of the English department in three different schools, all of which obtained “good” or better judgements in Ofsted ratings, and I have ten years' experience of a senior management role in a secondary school. I can obtain first class references and I have a current enhanced DBS certificate. Ideally, I am looking for a part-time role.
