Since leaving full time education in 1985 I have held a number of roles, ranging from laboratory technician through to Process Improvement Analyst and most recently, Intranet consultant for the Yorkshire building Society and Digital Content Coordinator for Asda based at their head office in Leeds city centre, until coming to the end of my contract in May 2024.
All these roles require strong analytical and organisational skills along with an ability to work on my own initiative, often within tight time constraints.
My laboratory and office-based background has given me hands on experience, and a good understanding of a number of IT systems and technologies, these include the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, Outlook & OneDrive etc), along with a good practical knowledge of html and css. I am also proficient with Photoshop and DTP packages.
I have always enjoyed a good working relationship with the people around me and have no trouble building a rapport and partnership with colleagues, customers and business partners alike
As Intranet Manager and Consultant at the Yorkshire Building Society I was the key point of contact and SME for all intranet related issues, and frequently offered advice covering all aspects of the Intranet to content authors and intranet users alike.
I would always try to encourage intranet authors to own their own content and empower them to have a go, rather than simply doing the work for them.
I am an upbeat individual and ever the optimist. I have 4 beautiful girls aged between 13 and 24
My hobbies include voluntary work for the British Youth Band Association for whom I am currently Communications Chair, looking after comms, social media channels and printed literature when required.
I play the trumpet in a street band style group and am a keen amateur photographer.
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in January 2022; however I don’t let this limit what I do and it this doesn’t affect my ability to work.
