Rohit Priyadarshi

Cell biologist with practical experience in mammalian cell culture, development of chemotherapy-resistant cell lines, live-cell imaging (IncuCyte), MTS / MTT cell viability assays and Western blot (SDS-PAGE). Currently doing MRes at the CRUK Scotland Institute, University of Glasgow. My project looks at BH3-mimetics and radiotherapy synergy in solid tumour models (MDA-MB-231, DAN-G and C42).

I am looking for a technical role where I can support cell biology research teams and continue building my career in science.

Research Project: Improving Anti-Cancer Impact of Radiotherapy via BH3-Mimetics at CRUK Scotland Institute, University of Glasgow (2026-01 – Present)

• Looking at how ionising radiation and BH3-mimetic inhibitors (against BCL-2, BCL-XL and MCL-1) work together to overcome apoptotic resistance in solid tumours.
• Made chemotherapy-resistant cell lines from parental C42 prostate cancer cells in about 100 days and maintained resistant models from solid tumours.
• Did live-cell imaging on IncuCyte for three tumour models (MDA-MB-231, DAN-G and C42). Also ran high-throughput MTS viability assays and made dose-response curves for combination treatments.
• Did protein quantification by LI-COR fluorescent Western blotting on the same three models. Also used cBioPortal to look at patient data for BCL-2 family genes.

Master's Thesis: PARP1 Signalling in Cisplatin Cytotoxicity and Cell Migration at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (2016-01 – 2016-05)

• Checked the role of PARP1 in cisplatin-induced DNA damage and cell migration in cervical cancer (SiHa cell line).
• Optimised siRNA transfection for PARP1 knockdown and also used the small-molecule inhibitor PJ34.
• Confirmed knockdown by ECL Western blotting (made own 10% resolving and 5% stacking gels). Did wound-healing assays to see effect on cell motility.
• Ran MTT assays (570 nm). Found 50% drop in cisplatin IC50 (from 10.2 µM to 5.1 µM), showing PARP1 inhibition makes SiHa cells more sensitive to cisplatin.

Research Trainee – Stem Cell & Translational Research at Tech Cell Innovations (AIIMS-incubated) (2023-07 – 2023-08)

• Did ELISA for biomarker quantification and in-ovo angiogenesis assays for drug-delivery work. Also helped with tissue-engineering and regenerative medicine protocols.

• Got exposure to CRISPR-Cas9 basics, NGS workflows and high-throughput PCR diagnostics.

Clinical Intern – Diagnostic Microbiology at Lady Hardinge Medical College (2014 – 2015)

• Worked with clinical samples, microbial culture, staining (including sputum) and antibiotic susceptibility testing in a hospital lab.

• Hands-on training in plant tissue culture, explant sterilisation and DNA/RNA extraction.
