Ronald Lucock
Brickwork Lecturer & Course Coordinator
About
I worked at Barry College (which later became Cardiff and Vale College) for over ten years as a Technician, where I became a highly regarded and reliable member of staff. My role involved maintaining the brickwork workshop to an excellent standard, ensuring it was always clean, safe, and well-organized for both students and staff. My daily duties included preparing mortar, dismantling completed student projects, and supporting the smooth running of practical sessions.
In the final two years of my time at the college, I began covering for lecturers during absences, taking on teaching responsibilities in brickwork. This experience motivated me to pursue a teaching qualification, and I went on to successfully complete a PGCE. Following this, I took on a new challenge within the Prison Service, teaching Level 1 Brickwork to inmates.
I worked in this role for 33 months, developing strong classroom management and communication skills in a uniquely demanding environment. I then moved to Southampton City College, where I was employed as a brickwork lecturer for over two years. My time there was unfortunately cut short due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
