My name is Ross, and I am 19 years old. People have always said to me that I am much more mature than my age, and that is true. I don't act or talk the way a typical person would at my age. In everything I do, I always try to lead and be the voice of the task that I am involved in, but I always make sure I hear what everyone else has to say and make a decision that includes everyone's thoughts.
I love working in a team environment, accomplishing things alongside others, and generally just having a fun time in the process. I am a very big people person, and I find it really easy to talk to any group of people and get along with them. Confidence is one of the big parts of my personality.
I like going into new things with new people and conquering new challenges. I am always there for people and will always do anything I can to help them, no matter how big the issue. I find that the times when I can excel and use 100% of my skills are when I'm in a high-pressure environment.
I love being under pressure and the adrenaline that comes with it. However, I am also good at knowing when I need to step back and relax, as it is good for your mental health to not be constantly under stress.
I have been a part of different activity groups. I was part of a Scout group where I started from Beavers all the way up to Scouts, and whilst doing so, I would be made leader of my ‘Six’ or ‘Lodge’ because of my leadership skills. I am also a big football fan and have played since I was very young.
Throughout my career, I have been the top goal scorer in the league on multiple occasions and also the captain of the Sunday league teams I played for, and I even managed to get into the Lincoln City FC Academy. When I started Secondary school, I was invited back to my Primary School to coach the school's football team in a local schools tournament that I once participated in. I managed to coach them to a victory for one team and a second place for the other team on a separate side of the tournament, which I was very pleased about.
It was my first time coaching, but I managed to stay calm, remember what my coaches had taught me, and implement that into my coaching even at the age of 12. At college, I did a sports course, but it was mainly football-based and linked with Lincoln City FC Shadow Academy. Here is where I took on the role of Football Activator, which meant I was in charge of making sure all football events were planned and organised, for example: trophy presentations, midweek catch-ups, and game analysis of previous games.
I've mostly worked in food establishments as they were the only jobs I could do whilst going through education. These are:
I attended The Priory Academy LSST, where I did my GCSEs and achieved the following:
Combined Science: 6-6
I then attended Riseholme College, where I did a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, where I achieved a grade of Merit,Merit,Merit (MMM).
