An insane Person doesn't know what an impossible task is.
To further pursue my passion for bridging the gap between research and commercialisation, I joined Innovation Forum as a Business Development Associate.
Forum, we facilitate the growth of early-stage start-ups in the field of life sciences through mentorship, workshops, and pitch competitions, fostering connections with investors and IP firms like Venner Shipley. As part of my role, I scouted early-stage start-ups, investors, and IP firms, and maintained connections through regular communication. During my interaction with Venner Shipley, I deepened my understanding of drafting patent applications for novel inventions in life sciences.
In my leisure time, I actively helped pre-seed start-ups identify prior art and structure their claims, reducing potential infringement.
The highlight of my academic journey was the year-long team-based project, Commercialisation in Life Science (CLS). In collaboration with a team of six, we undertook the challenge of developing a novel life science-based product, encompassing every step from laboratory bench to market launch. Through the CLS project, we partnered with a diagnostic start-up company, Chromition Ltd.
Alongside coursework, we served as independent consultants, meticulously drafting claims for patenting the invention, crafting a comprehensive consultancy report including mergers, acquisitions, and partnership opportunities, and successfully pitching to potential partners. This initiated the first step for a valuable partnership between Chromition and ThermoFisher Scientific.
