have been a construction site supervisor/site manager since 2004, completing projects in education, health, petrochemical and building conservation. I have spent the last 10 years at the Ineos Grangemouth, initially as a construction supervisor, latterly becoming civil engineering specialist for the Olefins and Polymers (O&P) part of the business. In this role I am Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Single Point Accountability (SPA) for civil engineering activities, including building fabric repair requests across all assets within O&P.

This involves determining the scope of the request, selecting the appropriate contractor, providing civil engineering/construction solutions, validating estimates and controlling the work in terms of health, safety and quality. For larger scale project works I am the civil engineering signatory for plant modifications assisting with project studies, constructability and selection of suitable contractors. As a petrochemical site falling under the COMAH regulations I am the custodian of the occupied building stock, ensuring that the process safety team and asset managers are informed as to building populations, structures and conditions.

As civil engineering SME on site HIPO investigations I have determined the cause of structural failure incidents on site.

In order to raise the level and awareness of the civil engineering discipline within the organisation I have re-written the site civil engineering standards, setting the course for a civil engineering inspection regime, quality control procedures, weight control procedures, dimensional control, structural steelwork, sustainability and building design.I have been a construction site supervisor/site manager since 2004, completing projects in education, health, petrochemical and building conservation.
