Senior Carer
I decided to join the care industry when I was 15 as a part time job and I have been in the industry ever since. I am a kind, caring and compassionate person and feel I have been able to form a positive rapport with everyone I have cared for. Additionally, I have had a lot of positive feedback from both families of the residents and the management team.
I started as a breakfast girl making breakfasts for the residents and I worked my way up to a senior carer which has allowed to me widen my skill set. I have also completed a level 2 NVQ in health and social care which has helped me to develop these skills. My skills range from personal care, handling medication, safely moving and handling residents with a wide range of ability.
Additionally, as a result of working within a residential home for a long period of time I have experienced different levels of care and also different severities of dementia and the way in which care changes so regularly to meet the individuals needs and requirements. I have been a senior carer for many years now and unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity to progress my career any further so I am looking for a new opportunity in order to expand my skill set even more.
Senior Carer - Bay House Residential Home
(1999-01)
I am very devoted and passionate about the residents I look after as we are like a family. I have a lot of care to give and enjoy being able to help make a difference to someone else's life. My first position at this company, was as a Domestic assistant when I joined in 1999.
I then went on to become a breakfast girl and I then decided I wanted to move into care. After completing both Level 2NVQs I am now in the position of Senior Carer. I have multiple responsibilities ranging from personal care, ensuring paper work is filled out correctly, make sure care plans are up to date and to also be someone that other staff members can come to in order to resolve any issues.
I am also medically trained to give out medications to the residents ensuring they have the correct medication and dosage at the right time. I am trained in changing both catheter bags and colostomy bags. As I am no longer able to process my career any further I am looking for a new opportunity and I am also looking to expand my skill set.
Furthermore, I would like to further my own personal growth. An area I would be really interested in training in is Phlebotomy and working alongside the nurses.
