Masters psychology graduate with 5 years experience in the mental health industry and advanced knowledge and practice of child development, attachment theory, cognitive and dialectical behavioural therapy, emotional regulation therapy, the DSM-5 and various integrative, behavioural and cognitive psychodynamic models. With an empathic and attentive approach, I have spent many years supporting young people and adults with complex emotional and psychological disorders. My academic research focuses upon the stigmatisation of mental illness and researching the detrimental impact of parental substance misuse on children ages 6-11, and exploring a suitable therapeutic approach to support children growing up with parents with substance misuse disorders.
As a true compassionate people person, I have 7 years experience working in the hospitality industry as a manageress of a busy bar and bistro for 2 years and then moving abroad and managing a bakery and coffee shop. With my hardworking and positive mindset, I was able to introduce structure and entertainment to both establishments whilst successfully meeting staff and customer needs leading to increased sales and recognition.
My hobbies and interests include working on my health and spiritual growth through following an Ayurveda lifestyle, meditating and engaging in Yoga and mindfulness movement practices. I am very creative and love to paint, craft and upcycle old clothes.
I have had a 2 years break from my career in the psychology and mental health industry. After suffering the unexpected loss of my mother in 2018, the right thing to do was to focus on healing the grief and loss with therapy and self care practices. I was able to build strength and resilience and I feel 100% ready to embrace a full time and long term position within the industry.
