I am a compassionate Healthcare Assistant with 8 months of experience supporting patient care in hospital settings. Skilled in patient observation, infection prevention, and multidisciplinary teamwork. Committed to delivering person-centred care aligned with NHS values and maintaining patient dignity and safety.
I am creative and love to be around people. I like working in groups, encouraging those around me and enjoying the support of others. I was a dance prefect in year 13 and had a mentoring role helping to support a pupil in year eight.
Through building a good rapport it was a mutually beneficial and happy experience. I have been told that I am a very calm and gentle person, and this may have enabled me to develop an empathy with the children in school and those whom I met in hospital. I am keen to work with other age groups.
In Health and Social care I have enjoyed working on case studies of patients with a range of problems and diagnosing their health needs following stroke or spinal cord injury for example and how OT plays a key role in maximising independence in recovery.
Healthcare Assistant (Placement) - GOSH
Under the supervision of a senior OT, Jacqueline Gordon, I experienced team working alongside other OTs, cleaning and moving equipment, interacting with patients and their parents during my time at GOSH which has left me with a lasting impression. It made me aware of the rare and complex diseases treated at the hospital and I saw children cared for with dignity and compassion which extended to the families of the patients. It was a compelling experience and everyone counted in the effort to improve their circumstances.
One of the highlights of my experience at GOSH was to enter the theatre in scrubs and watch a large team of professionals conducting brain surgery.
Nursery Assistant & Dance Prefect - Sherrardswood School - Welwyn
I worked in the nursery during year 13 at school. Here I supported play with various media, encouraged the development of mathematical concepts through songs and materials. I interacted closely with the children helping them with sharing and taking turns to use equipment.
