I am currently a student at the University of Aberdeen studying Medicine. I am looking to apply for a job due to the having increased availability over the next year and to further my experience in the workplace. I would be able to bring a vital set of valuable skills I have acquired from previous endeavours.

Volunteer Support Worker - Castle Lodge Carehome - Inverbervie

For one evening per week, I volunteered at the Castle Lodge Elderly Care Home in Inverbervie before having to leave due to the Covid-19 pandemic. My role was to stimulate the residents thinking with game-playing and conversation, while also eliminating some of the isolation the elderly community can suffer. I also assisted in basic caring tasks.

The experience exposed me to a sector of the community that I would have seldom encountered previously, improving my listening, communication skills and confidence.

Waiting Staff - Roos Leap - Montrose

For summer work, I worked in a restaurant called Roos Leap. My role there was to wait tables and/or to run the food out from the kitchen. Both roles required me to interact with the public frequently and this allowed me to become more comfortable in this scenario.

I also had to schedule table bookings over the phone, clean kitchen equipment/coffee machines at the end of the night and handle bills after a customer had finished their meal. This job gave me a great experience in the hospitality industry.

Colleague - Tesco Woodend - Aberdeen

This role required me to work early mornings to stack the store's shelves before customers would enter. Having a fast pace and good time keeping skills was a necessity for this role as you would fall behind if not. I also was trained on how to work tills and completed multiple shifts in this role.

Summer Porter - University of Aberdeen - Aberdeen

(2023-06 - 2024-08)

This summer job consisted of working full-time, 7am-3pm, Mon-Fri. The duties of this job required me to work in a close-knit team to move furniture (tables, chairs, cabinets etc.), open buildings and rooms for the day ahead, collect/dispose of rubbish and collect/deliver mail. I also learned and became competent in processing mail through a franking machine.

I was constantly in radio contact with other members of staff and would be frequently called for jobs. Through my time I became confident in the layout of the university buildings and through the training I received, I became competent in carrying out tasks by myself to a good standard. I really loved this job as I got on well with my colleagues, who which I still speak to often, and enjoyed communicating with the staff members we would complete jobs for.

I also enjoyed the physical nature of the job and how I was always on my feet.
