I am a motivated and confident person looking to further progress my career within the health sector as a HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner. My previous occupational experience has allowed me to develop a diverse and essential skill set that can be tailored to any presented situation. I have gained excellent communication skills while working in a team-orientated atmosphere as well as gathering vital theatre experience in different hospitals. Said skills in addition to a wealth of transferable abilities centred on patient care, have been gained through my experiences in the medical field.
After graduating in 2018, I returned to Addenbrooke’s hospital (CUH)
as a qualified Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to continue my career.
During my studies and hands on experience at the University of Bedfordshire and Bedford Hospital, I gained varied and valuable experiences. All experiences have made me a well rounded practitioner and I have substantial knowledge within Obstetrics, Urology, and Gynaecology. My day to day work now is within the day-surgery unit at CUH. ENT list’s are common, along with Paediatric, Robotic bowl surgery and breast surgery.
I thrive on the added responsibility and especially the more interpersonal relationships with the clinical leaders and managers. This includes supporting them, leading alongside them and delegating for or with them. I try and be a role model everyday and actively help mentoring students on a regular basis. I have demonstrated my ability to work well under pressure and in emergency situations. Numerous amounts of equipment are needed for the various operations that are performed and I am practically competent with extensive amounts of equipment.
