Shakya Perera

Recent graduate from the University of Sheffield with an upper second-class (2:1) BA in Accounting and Financial Management and Economics. My modules are recognized by ACCA, CIMA and ICAS for professional exemptions, giving me a solid grounding in Accounting, Financial Management and Economic Analysis alongside strong research skills. I've built on this through extracurricular roles at university and part-time work, developing skills in teamwork, organization and communication.

I'm seeking opportunities in the Accounting, Auditing or Operations fields. I currently hold a Student Visa, which expires on 13 October 2026, and I will be applying for the Graduate Visa, granting me the right to work in the UK for a further 2 years without the need for sponsorship.

• Rotating and code checking fresh food to comply with regulations and minimize waste.
• Marking down fresh food that are approaching the use-by date.
• Carrying out optics and gap scans to ensure product availability and support inventory management.
• Helping customers and keeping shelves tidy and presentable.

Sales Assistant Volunteer at Oxfam (2024-04 – 2025-09)

• Operating the till, handling payments and responsible for cash management.
• Serving customers and assisting them when needed.
• Pricing, stocking and displaying of items for sale.
• Working together with other volunteers and staff members to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

Academic Rep at The University of Sheffield (2024-10 – 2025-05)

• Acting as a bridge between students and staff, ensuring that vital communication is passed on.
• Attending meetings to discuss any academic concerns and issues amongst the students and passing them on to the academic staff and helping come up with solutions.
• Working together with The Economics School to enhance the learning experience for my fellow Economic peers.

Change Lab Project member- Community Led Development Action Group, Treasurer at The University of Sheffield (2024-10 – 2025-05)

• Developing accessible methods of communicating the need of land and property ownership to marginalized groups together with the Sheffield Community Land Trust.
• Attending monthly meetings with the other members of the group to proceed with our project.
• Preparing a budget, recording all expenditures, collecting receipts to keep track of the money spent and compiling a report to hand over to the group leader.

Member of the School Prefects Guild, Prefect and Editor at Gateway College Kandy (2021-09 – 2023-07)

• Organized various school events and fundraisers together with the rest of the guild.
• Helped in the management of the school and the discipline of younger students and supporting them whenever needed.
• Designed and compiled together the grade yearbook successfully as the Editor and edited several school magazines.
