At 15, I volunteered at a youth club, working with children aged 5 to 12 who faced challenging life circumstances. I loved the experience and was eventually promoted to leader, where I helped organise a community gala fundraiser to raise money for the local swing park, which had been destroyed. This experience ignited my passion for early years childcare, leading me to pursue a career in the field.
I started as an apprentice, and although my journey had a bumpy start, I gradually began to enjoy it more. As a trainee, I discovered my full potential and worked diligently toward a team leader role. Upon qualifying, I hit my stride and, just nine months later, was promoted to lead practitioner.
Three months after that, I became the team leader, fully embracing my responsibilities and the impact I could have on the children's lives. As a team leader in childcare, I thrive on the opportunity to shape young minds and create a nurturing environment. My passion for fostering development was evident in the way I guided my team, encouraging collaboration and creativity.
I cherish the moments of connection with the children, celebrating their milestones and supporting their growth. The role allowed me to make a positive impact, not just on the children but also on my staff, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. I am currently looking to come away from early years and do something completely different, as I have been doing this most of my life I used to love working behind a till and helping out customers I would love to do this again.
