Shingirai Kaserera

Through my work as a logis􀆟cs supervisor on a high-speed rail project and as a ganger on a large high-rise commercial build, I have gained valuable experience in project management, leadership, and coordina􀆟on skills. As a team leader for high-end events and catering company Off To Work, I have further honed my ability to troubleshoot, perform without supervision, and consistently demonstrate a high degree of ini􀆟a􀆟ve and good judgment. These experiences, coupled with my educa􀆟on in Informa􀆟on Systems

Analysis & Design (HND), have inspired me to pursue a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering Prac􀆟ce from the

University of Derby, which I will complete in May 2023. This degree has given me a deep understanding of the built environment sector and how infrastructure can be used to improve people's lives.

As a student member of the Chartered Ins􀆟tute for Highways and Transport, I am commi􀆩ed to ongoing learning and professional development. I am now excited to take the next step in my academic journey by pursuing a Master's in Economics and Public Policy at the University of Bologna. This program will allow me to further explore my passion for crea􀆟ng posi􀆟ve social change through a deeper understanding of economics and policy-making.

My ba􀆩le with non-Hodgkins lymphoma cancer has also sparked a passion for improving healthcare access in underserved areas. I believe that by combining my knowledge and skills in civil engineering,

project management, and technology with my commitment to crea􀆟ng posi􀆟ve social change, I can make a meaningful impact in the world. I do feel as a result that I only need to further my understanding of how finances and the policies that rest behind them to make more informed decisions on how to grow further into achieving my objec􀆟ves. This realisa􀆟on was spawned through my experiences as a founding member and ambassador for Welcome Back To Africa, a non-profit organiza􀆟on dedicated to improving educa􀆟on in rural African communi􀆟es.

I have gained a unique perspec􀆟ve on the crucial role that educa􀆟on and development play in the lives of marginalized communi􀆟es.

In addi􀆟on, my work as an urban music ar􀆟st and intern advoca􀆟ng for youth representa􀆟on in the music industry has allowed me to witness first-hand the powerful impact that passionate individuals can have in effec􀆟ng posi􀆟ve change. Moreover, I have demonstrated my versa􀆟lity and crea􀆟vity through my independent music publica􀆟ons and releases on major pla􀆞orms such as Apple Music, iTunes, and Spo􀆟fy,

while simultaneously working collabora􀆟vely with diverse organiza􀆟ons. I am confident that these experiences, combined with my commitment to promo􀆟ng social jus􀆟ce and advancing public welfare,

make me a strong candidate for the Master's in Economics and Public Policy program at the University of

Bologna.

My long-term career goal is to make a meaningful impact in the world by informing and shaping policies that improve the lives of marginalized individuals and communi􀆟es. By combining my passion for technology, my educa􀆟on in civil engineering, and my commitment to crea􀆟ng posi􀆟ve social change, I am confident that I can achieve this goal. I believe that everyone has a duty to care for one another, and that we are all responsible for the welfare of our fellow human beings.

To this end, I am eager to pursue a

Master's in Economics and Public Policy at the University of Bologna, which will provide me with the knowledge and skills necessary to effect change on a larger scale. Ul􀆟mately, my aim is to create a be􀆩er future for genera􀆟ons to come, and to ensure that we are all working towards a sustainable and just world.
