I am an experienced marine electrician and enjoy problem solving, fault finding and applying my technical electrical engineering skills to boats which require refits as well as new builds. I am currently seeking an opportunity to gain more international experience and to be based outside the UK in order to widen my breadth of experience. I have had some experience of work in the UAE as I have undertaken short periods of contract work on behalf of my current employer, Holyhead Marine Services, and enjoyed it.Duties in my current employment role include the installation and maintenance of electrical components and systems throughout all aspects of commercial workboats, pilot boats and patrol craft.
I am responsible for the installation of navigation and communication systems and for updating systems on boats supplied to the Navy and to foreign commercial customers. . In my role I am responsible for fitting the STAT-X fire extinguishing system in the 11 meter ORC boats I work on, and I have also fitted smoke detectors to the STAT-X system on larger vessels. Currently I am in a team working on 9 and 11 meter off shore raiding crafts (ORC).
The company sends me to fulfil contracted work at UK Navy bases and to customers overseas. Due to the positive feedback given by UK Navy bases about my work I have been chosen to undertake work in the Middle East over the last two years on behalf of Holyhead Marine Services.
I have also undertaken training to operate power boats. gaining a RYA power boat level 2 certificate, and RYA VHF Radio licence, so that I can take completed and refitted 9 and 11 metre boats out for testing.
