I am a molecular biologist with over 30 years of post-PhD experience as researcher and science educator. After receiving his PhD in 1990, he carried out his postdoctoral training at Glasgow University, Imperial Cancer Research Fund (UK) and Cambridge University. Subsequently, he went on to serve University of Wisconsin-Madison as Assistant Professor, and Invitrogen Corporation as Senior Scientist, before returning to Pakistan in 2004.
Until 2011, Dr. Qureshi was at The Aga Khan University Hospital and thereafter served the Syed Babar Ali School of Science & Engineering at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) as Professor and Dean. In 2016, he joined CECOS University as Professor in the Institute of Integrative Biosciences (IIB) and subsequently served as its director.
Dr. Qureshi was appointed as Vice Chancellor of CECOS University in 2019. In January 2022, he joined the Department of Life Sciences, University of Management & Technology (UMT) as Professor. At present, he is the Director of Research & Innovation at Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences.
Dr. Qureshi has been the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award from Aga Khan University. His research interests include gene regulation in extremophiles, epigenetics of cancer, and biology of Hepatitis-C Virus
