Permanent software engineer delivering production systems for UK central-government clients across a series of engagements, with internal delivery and solution work between placements.

• Engagement: Central Government Cloud-Native Migration — Took sole engineering ownership of migrating a business-critical government service from a legacy on-premise model onto a modern cloud-native platform, modernising how it was built, released and operated.
• Re-engineered the build, test and deployment process (Docker, Helm, GitLab CI/CD) and diagnosed and resolved complex integration and configuration failures under time pressure to get the service running reliably in production.
• Produced deployment documentation and operational runbooks and led handover to a permanent engineering team.
• Engagement: Cross-Government Enterprise Digital Platform — Delivered production full-stack features on a cross-government digital platform in C#, .NET and SQL, working end to end from requirements through design, build and test to release.
• Took ownership of an inherited, thinly-documented codebase — resolved defects, reduced technical debt, strengthened automated test coverage and improved documentation so the team could work in it confidently.
• Built front-end interfaces integrated with back-end services and APIs, and embedded automated quality and accessibility checks into CI so regressions failed the build.
• Engagement: High-Volume Public Sector API Platform — Designed and built RESTful APIs and microservices in Java and Spring Boot on a national platform processing millions of submissions, integrating with third-party accounting software through public APIs.
• Engineered event-driven message flows with RabbitMQ, handling idempotency, retries and controlled failure so distributed services stayed consistent and reliable when downstream systems failed or lagged.
• Worked test-first with JUnit, WireMock and JaCoCo behind CI pipelines with automated quality gates that had to pass before merge, keeping a high-volume, regulated production system reliable.
• Initiated and led a cross-team effort to establish shared coding and integration standards — drafted the standard, secured buy-in from technical leads in other squads, and built enforcement into CI. Mentored engineers through pairing and code review, and collaborated with architects and product owners on integration design.
• Engagement: Public Sector Financial Data Web Application — Built a React application replacing a manual, spreadsheet-based process for financial and personal data, adding client-side validation that improved data accuracy for the operational team using it.
• Engagement: EY Internal Technical Solution Design — Between client placements, contributed to technical solution design on client proposals and completed structured engineering upskilling, achieving Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-900, AI-900).
