I began my journey as a care assistant for a domiciliary care agency. I quickly came to realise the privilege of caring for others and I fell in love with enriching lives.
I knew health and social care would be the industry I would devote my efforts and career to, standing sure that I wanted to develop my skills and obtain qualifications to progress in my career.
After this, I became a senior care assistant, moving on to be a unit manager and Safeguarding lead for a 33-bedroom residential floor within a 110-resident capacity home.
I then moved on to complete my GPhC-eligible Pharmacy Technician qualification.
Working within Pharmacy, I had the opportunity to learn a good knowledge base across most clinical areas and apply this to medicines management and practice with a fine focus on social and health inequalities. Additionally, I could apply my experience as a Safeguarding lead to becoming a Safeguarding and Safe Space champion for our pharmacy branch.
I then joined the Social Prescribing team within the Primary Care Network, supporting a diverse range of adults with an array of social concerns, ensuring the appropriate professional support, equipment and reporting to safety net service users from the secondary risks of a decline in health and mobility, mental health- particularly at the point of crisis, or are victims of domestic violence.
I have reached a point in my career where I have gained the necessary, transferable skills, and knowledge to apply to a new endeavour, with an eagerness to obtain further qualifications and engage with professional development.
