Sophie Simko Mair

I’m a biomedical science graduate from the University of Brighton looking for a job as a medical lab assistant in an IBMS-approved training laboratory. I’m in search of a lab that will allow me the opportunity to complete my IBMS Registration Training Portfolio following 6 months of full-time work so that I can make full use of a HCPC registration and eventually practice as a biomedical scientist. I began my master’s degree in haematology but decided to put this on hold until I gained my portfolio and laboratory experience.

Though my passion lies within blood sciences, I am very open to working within infection and cell science laboratories. I’m a highly motivated, adaptable, professional individual eager to learn new skills in varied roles even under pressure. I display great communication skills and am an active listener who welcomes constructive criticism.

• Front line customer facing role; aiding and guiding customers while they test themselves, ensuring a high level of sanitation and infection control through training in control of hazardous waste, infection prevention and safe systems of work. 

• Arranging client meetings, welcoming clients, handling emails, phone calls, and applications, and sorting packages/post.

• Delivered a range of fun & adventurous activities from archery & abseiling to zip wires, organising evening entertainment, being the group’s main point of contact and everything in-between.
