- Inspection Carriageway/Footway for defects
- Overgrown vegetation protruding onto the Carriageway- Footway
- Broken/ damaged street furniture assessment
- Utility companies assets inspections for defects
- Emergency call outs
- All enquiries generated from FMS – Fix My Street portal – local residents of the county use to report issues on the Highway
- Once attended each enquiry – assessment made of the severity of the issue- using a Risk/ Probability matrix formula
- Once the defect has been scored will determine the time given to have the defect rectified
NRSWA Inspector - Leicester County Council
(2026-01 - 2026-04)
- Inspecting and reporting on street works
- Inspecting Enforcing compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and other associated legislation
- Supporting legal proceedings by preparing accurate records and witness statements when required
- Monitoring compliance with the NRSWA, Codes of Practice, and specifications for reinstatement and openings of highways
- Identifying, recording, and reporting defects in highway reinstatements and surface apparatus
- Working with contractors, utilities and undertakers to ensure all works are completed to the required standard
- Providing input to case reviews and acting as a liaison between the Street Works Inspector and the conditions

The role involves micro management, between civils gangs repairing burst water mains. A fast paced and challenging position, problem solving, keeping the work stream moving effectively to time and budget.

Civils Supervisor - Bethmar Limited

The role involved the supervision of 5 civils gangs. The works encompassing the excavation/build of reinforced concrete plinths to support additional water sewage tanks, preventing the overflow of sewage into the water course. The additional water sewage tanks had to be constructed- lined with a membrane and all applicable pipe work installed.
A busy and demanding position culminating with permanent supervision on CDM site where upon my SMSTS qualification and knowledge was used effectively on water sewage sites.

- Reporting to the client: Virgin Media on a daily basis via Teams calls and weekly site visits encompassing Health & Safety audits vehicle and plant checks

- Clegg testing of the carriageway/footway compaction of backfill materials

The role involved pre enablement (Site survey) for the installation of mains Gas, Water and Electricity services, prior to civils work commencing.
- Arranging site meeting with traffic management and local authority and the clients- Cadent Gas, National Grid/UKPN and Anglian & Severn Trent Water when deemed necessary

NBLO/NSR - Virgin Media - Home Counties

Project management position for the installation of Copper/Coax and Fibre Civils /Cabling Networks on New Build sites across the Home Counties. The client Virgin Media issued a Civils /Cabling pack from the Planning department. My role to deliver, on time and budget, Virgin Media services to New Build subscribers. A demanding and rewarding role I thrived upon.
- Regular meetings with the client and supervisors discussing progression –problems and the target delivery dates
- New build site visits with contractors –external contractors regarding off/onsite civils and cabling, cabinet builds
- Requesting on/off site cabinet regarding off site civils/cabling and cabinet builds
- Requesting off site cabinet build locations prior to builds with applicable local authorities
- Liaising with the developer and sales to have active Virgin Media service to serve potential subscribers
Fibre Cabling Supervisor - TCC Group Limited - Central London
(2010-02 - 2012-01)
The duties consisted of the supervision of 2 Fibre cabling gangs, with works being in central London.
- Regular meeting with the client-Cable & Wireless regards progression and delivery of the fibre optic installations in central London and Canary Wharf
- Weekly site Safety and plant checks
- Liaising with TCC Street Works department and TFL should civils working when required
- Arrange access for Canary Wharf other high profile buildings in central London
Highway Inspector - Chelmsford Borough Council
(2008-03 - 2010-01)
- Undertake and record Highway Safety Inspections (driven or walked dependent on the inspection type - Rural or Urban)
- Utilises online mapping and communications systems
- Identify safety defects which are hazardous to highway users, as defined within the Highway Inspection Manual
- Identify defects which are hazardous to highway users as defined in the Highway Safety Inspection Manual (HSIM)
- Measure and record dimensions, location, type and severity of defects, for example potholes, damaged manholes, broken kerbs, faded signs and lines, blocked drainage systems causing flooding - using electronic capture devices
- Create electronic works orders specifying appropriate repairs using the Schedule of Rates, and define priority based on severity of the defect and road hierarchy, this can range from immediate to 3 months
- Perform the role of Designer under the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM Regulations)
- Liaise with Area Highways staff to report third party safety defects affecting the highway, e.g., encroachment, overhanging vegetation, illegal vehicle crossings
