Graduate Design Mechanical and Test Engineer - pureLiFi
(2024-07)
Worked within a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, optical, and hardware engineers to support the development of an upcoming WLAN device with LiFi integration.
- Designed and manufactured over 10 custom test jigs for optical and test engineers in PTC CREO Parametric, applied Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. Three large assembly test jigs designed incorporating aluminum extrusions and machine components for internal testing of our optical product.
- Produced engineering drawings and inspected prototypes against CAD drawings, verifying critical dimensions and tolerances.
- Utilized Fusion Electronic Cooling (CFD) for thermal analysis and used it to create thermal solutions for an upcoming product. Designed and replaced a large and expensive heatsink solution with smaller heatsinks targeted at critical components, resulting in cost reduction of 75%. Involved in this lifecycle development from concept design to manufacturing.
- Executed End of Line tests on an upcoming product, noted down failure modes and passed this information to the hardware engineers for problem investigations. Signed off units that passed.
- Managed engineering documentation using Arena PLM. Experience with ECO. ECN and creation of BOMs.
- Worked on Thermal, Sunload and IP testing of an upcoming product.
Safety Technical Lead - HW Rail
(2023-09 - 2023-07)
Managing the integration of safety systems across the entire locomotive including an FMEA and FDA analysis.
- Developed safe working practices and procedures for safety critical design.
- Working with the technical team to approve safety critical design components and systems.
- Used ANSYS to conduct FEA and verify the safety of the locomotive. FEA was done on Fibre Glass composite, Aluminum Extrusion and the Wheelset of the locomotive. Safety factors were 3, 2.1 and 13 respectively.
- Work with less experienced members of the team and assist them in designing components in Solidworks.
- Designed the suspension system of the locomotive. This included taking in variables like radial size, distance between the radial arm and the bogie frame and the force that would go through both suspensions.
- Managed the Locomotive's Assembly via Autodesk VAULT (PDM).
Technical Aerodynamicist and Composites Engineer - HW Racing Edinburgh
(2022-09 - 2025-07)
Spearheaded the CFD simulations in ANSYS that determined the reliability of the accumulator. Designed the sidepods cooling package that brought down the average temperature of the accumulator by 14°C.
- Designed the Front Wing with a focus on high downforce generation allowed a high mass flow rate into the undertray of the 2023 HW Racing Formula Student car and assisted on the rest of the aerodynamic package for Concept Class.
- ANSYS FLUENT was used for a CFD study on the Front Wing of the car. The Front Wing produces a high downforce at a value of 630 N at 30 m/s. Used parameterization to design it.
- Conducted an FEA analysis on the entire Aerodynamic Package of the car with it mainly focused on Composites FEA with a chosen safety factor of 1.3.
- Designed a funnel that directs air into the powertrain and provides the accumulator with sufficient cooling. This was analyzed by using ANSYS FLUENT and had technical validation. The simulation was transient with a moving reference frame (MRF) for a rotating propeller.
- Managed the Aerodynamics Assembly in the full car CAD via Autodesk VAULT (PDM).
- Took part in manufacturing the bodywork of the car. This included designing the MDF jig assembly in ONSHAPE.
Mechanical Engineering Intern - Delta Printing Press LLC - Dubai
(2022-07 - 2022-08)
- Assisted in maintaining around 5 industry machines in the printing press. This is included by reading CAD drawing and using it to pinpoint the potential problems in industrial printing machines.
- Used CAD to design parts for part replacements in Autodesk INVENTOR and conducted FEA simulations on the parts to determine reliability.
