Hiya! I’m Teagan and I am currently in my final year of University studying Sports Therapy. I chose this degree as I love how rewarding it is and every day can be different! I am currently looking for a postgraduate job as I am very eager to further my knowledge and experience after finishing.

October 2021 - Current (casual basis) Tidworth Leisure Centre, Tidworth, Wiltshire

Role: Lifeguard

Duties included

• Supervising swimming activities at the leisure centre and ensuring that safety procedures,

guidelines and policies are followed

• Warning of unsafe activities and enforcing water safety policies and pool regulations
• Providing first aid in the event of injury, rescuing swimmers in danger or distress and administering

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or artificial respiration, if necessary

• Assessing conditions for safety and coming up with an action plan for aquatics emergency
• Inspecting pool equipment, facilities and water to make sure they are usable and safe
• Supervising and assisting in cleaning equipment and facilities
• Opening and closing the pool each day, depending on schedule and hours
• Organising and overseeing pool parties

May 2021 - December 2021, Solstice Play, Amesbury, Wiltshire

Role: Soft play assistant

Duties included

• Supervision of young children and ensuring a safe and secure environment
• Interac@ng with the children and par@cipa@ng with enthusiasm in their fun ac@vi@es
• Quick and efficient response in a cri@cal or emergency
• Supervision and inspec@on of the surrounding where children play to ensure the hygiene and safety of the place

February 2020 - September 2020, Andover Leisure Centre, Andover, Hants

July 2019, Tidworth Leisure Centre

Role: 2 week work experience placement

Duties included

• Shadowed a key member of pool staff, observing their day-to-day work
• Assisted in day-to-day tasks in the gym and helped with swim school and exercise classes
• Learned about pool management and maintenance
• Gained knowledge of key health and safety standards used within the industry

Following this work experience, I achieved the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) which is the IQL Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding, Intervention, Supervision and Rescue. I have also completed my Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing through ActiveIQ.
