I am well-versed in the catering industry after two years of working in multiple kitchens, (wedding and other) venues and private parties. However, I also have experience working with stock and retail. Over time, I have gained more responsibility as I have proven myself adequate at contributing to my supervisor and fellow staff.
Waiter at Flame BBQ (2023-06 – 2025-06)
My position in this job was very versatile. It ranged from preparing canapés, sides, desserts for different weddings and events and serving them. With this came the responsibility of cleaning up and washing dishes once a week during wedding seasons. After working there for a while, my responsibilities advanced to organising the food and equipment needed prior to the event and eventually managing the staff and flow of events was conducted properly.
Server/Chef/Cleaner at Dolphin's Caribbean Cuisine (2024-07 – 2024-08)
I handled the dishes that are cooked and prepared at the restaurant and served them to customers. Before and after my shifts I would also vacuum the carpet, move tables, wipe down surfaces. During the summer holidays there was an uptake in demand and longer shifts due to the Reading Festival and other events.
Therefore, I had to wake up at three am to prepare for the breakfast rush. It was a new experience waking before the sun was up and then leaving at 12-2pm. I also did my work experience (Year 10) in one of their other locations in Reading Buses kitchen, where I did the same tasks, such as washing up, cleaning and food prep but on a smaller scale for the drivers.
Sales Assistant at My Little Angel (2024-06 – 2024-08)
During the summer of 2024 I worked biweekly for my friend's online stationary business. The day consisted of packing many orders, replying to customer queries and delivering them to the post office. It was not too difficult as I have earlier experience with customer service and packing orders as I used to own an Etsy business, so I knew my way around the site interface and Royal Mail service.
Though the job came with unfamiliar territory such as Shopify, Amazon and TikTok shop, I learned my way around it quickly.
Part-time employee at The Hexagon (Present)
I work at the Hexagon as a part-time employee in the coffee bar and in the kitchen.
