Thomas Dang

Motivated engineer with a foundation in biomedical research and hands-on experience in sensor systems, signal processing, and hardware testing, now seeking to transition fully into electrical engineering roles. Through projects involving multi-sensor integration, PCB design, embedded systems, and physiological signal analysis, I have developed a strong technical skill set that bridges human-centered engineering and traditional electrical engineering.

Computer Engineer II at DCS Corporation (2022-01 – 2026-03)

• Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams and the Army Research Lab on a multi-year research effort investigating motion-related artifacts in novel in-ear EEG during immersive virtual environments; designed and validated multi-sensor hardware systems (EEG, EKG, motion capture, eye-tracking), conducted human-subjects experiments, and analyzed physiological and behavioral data using advanced signal processing, machine learning, and statistical methods (ANOVA, post-hoc comparisons), with results presented at EMBC, Neuroscience, NER, and MoBI.
• Developed and maintained end-to-end data processing pipelines and MATLAB toolkits for organizing, synchronizing, and extracting spatiotemporal features from complex multimodal datasets, including kinematic and eye-tracking event detection, while supporting research scientists in experimental execution, data quality assurance, and real-world deployment of sensing systems.

• Collaborated with Southern Company to support lighting infrastructure upgrades across Georgia using proprietary monitoring tools and Excel; assisted with reconciliation, distribution engineering training, and field documentation, resulting in reduced power consumption, accurate utility billing, and improved fixture replacement workflows.

Undergraduate Research Assistant at Kennesaw State University (2020-08 – 2021-08)

• Conducted Army Research Laboratory–funded research on cognitive state assessment using oculometry and neural signals to support human–agent teaming, under the supervision of Dr.

Sylvia

Bhattacharya. Processed ERP data with the MNE package across predefined electrode sets to extract frequency-band features associated with anxiety, fear, and stress during roadway events, contributing to U.S. Army objectives for future operational overmatch.

Electrical Engineering Intern at Yokogawa (2020-08 – 2020-12)

• Designed and fabricated PCBs and fixtures using Eagle, AutoCAD, and Inventor to replace relays on a transmitter test line, saving $690 in labor; implemented vibration and temperature monitoring systems with proprietary sensors to prevent pump failures and avert $330K/month in losses; and duplicated an inspection cabinet saving $115K annually—collectively reducing manufacturing time and delivering up to $340K/month in labor and loss-prevention savings.
