My absolute dream whilst growing up was to work with Animals and I am delighted that this is something I pursued. When I left school, I studied Animal Care at Brooksby College, then started a role as a kennel hand, amongst a few other jobs. A few more years went by before I applied for an opportunity to train as a Veterinary Nurse.
I qualified in 2008 and worked in practice for many years. 3 and a half years ago, I started working at Waltham Pet Nutrition Centre on the Animal units (Cats and Dogs). Here I have used all of my transferable skills, collaborating with the Veterinary and Welfare teams, training and upskilling my peers and caring for the Cats and dogs. The role also involves triaging health concerns, performing health checks, bodyweight management, administering preventative health care, grooming and much more.
During this time I have gained a valuable insight into Pet behavior, growth, development, training, breeding and nutrition. Most recently I have joined the Reigate Animal Sanctuary team as a Volunteer alongside my current role. I am passionate about animal care and welfare and find this to be extremely rewarding.
I am very keen on evolving and adapting as a professional, making the most of my skills and experience in a new role.
