I recently graduated BSc Psychology and Criminology as a mature student and I am looking to work with children and young people to assist them in reaching their full potential by helping them to remove or overcome barriers to learning.
I do not currently have any professional experience but I have brought up two children with diverse needs, my son has autistic spectrum disorder and my daughter has extreme anxiety, and lack of confidence and is possibly on the spectrum too but undiagnosed officially. This has meant that I, as a single parent, have supported them through GCSEs and A level equivalents by finding strategies to cope with and manage anxieties and stressors that work for them in their learning environments. I have also studied various neuro-diversities, child development, and educational psychology as part of my degree and continued to read about this topic.
BSc Criminology and Psychology (2.1). My degree enriched my lived experience of challenges faced by people with all manner of issues, and the Educational Psychology unit enlightened me with both what can cause behaviour issues and barriers to young people succeeding in education and how interventions can benefit them.
