I am an associate member if Institute of Physics, Engineering and Medicine and I have experienced working as a Radiation engineer trainee. My role involved assisting in carrying out planned preventive maintenance to minimise machine down time for three Elekta Linear accelerators and one Xstrahl KV superficial unit. It also entails assisting in carrying out quality control procedures and calibrations, assisting in carrying out fault finding process and responsible for updating database records for faults encountered as well as ordering new spare parts.
I have learnt how to apply structured techniques to common and non-routine problems, testing methodologies and ability to analyse problems by selecting appropriate electrical tools in line with the organisation guidance whilst obtaining any relevant logistical support when required. I understand the importance of taking precautions when dealing with high voltages, large mechanical loads, chemical and biological contamination.
I have been exposed to software skills, PSPICE to design analogue circuits and used MATLAB functions to simulate flow of electrical fields, CATIA to design a chassis for a small electronic robot and Arduino to design a software program used in navigating a line following robot. I’m enthusiastic about electronic design and integration of hardware and software systems and would like to gain more exposer in both. I have a deep interest in learning more about new advancement in technology.
Carrying out mechanical quality control as part of the departments Quality Assurance program, fault finding,
repairs and planned maintenance of Elekta linear accelerator and Xstrahl orthovoltage unit and production of bespoke medical devices associated with radiotherapy treatment
