Volunteering - Retail Volunteer - Barnardo's Charity Shop

I work as a retail volunteer at Barnardo's Charity Shop, supporting the daily operations of the store to help raise funds for the charity's initiatives. My responsibilities include assisting customers on the shop floor by providing friendly and helpful service; receiving, sorting, pricing, and displaying donated items to maintain an organised and appealing shop layout. So far, working at the till has helped me develop a range of practical and transferable skills.

I've become confident handling money, making sure transactions are accurate, which has improved my attention to detail and numeracy. I've also learned how to stay calm and efficient during busy periods, which has strengthened my time management and ability to work under pressure. I have developed strong customer service and communication skills through regular interaction with the public, built time management and organisational skills by balancing multiple tasks, and gained an appreciation for the role of charity shops in sustainability and community support.
