Board Member - Lads West Yorkshire - Bradford
(2021-08 - 2023-08)
Lads West Yorkshire is an organisation funded by Bradford Council that aims to provide support to men and boys to tackle mental health, wellbeing alongside practical interventions for men and boys for all ages. The project focuses on ethnic minority communities including faith communities, marginalised communities, intersectionality, socially and economically disadvantaged communities.
- In board meetings, I helped contribute in comprehensive discussions on the specific challenges faced by men's mental health and the youth in disadvantaged communities in West Yorkshire. I would occasionally support by setting up meetings as well as document the discussions for the head of the organisation to view later. We were able to explore effective interventions like mentorship programs and skill-building initiatives that empower both men and youth to navigate the challenges they face.
- As a board member I would attend and support events set up by Lads West Yorkshire, one of these being is crime prevention program. This program was a 6 week workshop which I helped source the venue, it had guest speakers from some of the most successful people in the community in which they discussed their lived experiences and how they were able to build themselves up from the ground up.
