I’ve been working in healthcare research within the public sector for the past few years, having worked across a range of different projects and wide-ranging studies. Researched the efficacy of psychological therapies (metacognitive therapy) in cardiac patients with anxiety and depression within a multi-disciplinary research team. This included working on both full-scale randomised control trials and feasibility studies.
Studies I helped implement utilised a range of research methods including questionnaire measures, clinical interviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
Day to day responsibilities included: Participant recruitment; data analysis (both qualitative and quantitative techniques); writing ethics research applications for governing bodies (IRAS, NIHR); research dissemination, (publications, presentations, conferences) and research governance compliance.
Involved in all aspects of research project management including, recruiting NHS sites, participant recruitment, gaining ethical approvals, ensuring recruitment targets are met, educating healthcare staff on study procedures and database management.
