Blog Comments and AI Moderation

2026-02-282 min read

How Comments Work

Every published blog article on BeBee has a comments section where readers can share their thoughts, ask questions, and start discussions. Comments appear below the article body in chronological order.

To leave a comment, a user must be signed in to their BeBee account. This ensures accountability and helps maintain a respectful community.

AI-Powered Moderation

BeBee uses an AI moderation system that automatically reviews every comment before it is published. The system checks for:

  • Spam -- Promotional content, irrelevant links, and repetitive messages.
  • Abusive language -- Harassment, hate speech, and personal attacks.
  • Low-quality content -- Comments that are excessively short, nonsensical, or off-topic.
Comments that pass moderation appear immediately. Flagged comments are held in a review queue for the article author to approve or reject.

Managing Comments on Your Articles

As an article author, you have full control over your comment section:

  1. Review flagged comments -- Go to your Blog dashboard and look for the moderation notification. Flagged comments are listed with the reason they were held.
  2. Approve or reject -- Click Approve to publish a flagged comment, or Reject to remove it permanently.
  3. Delete any comment -- You can remove any comment on your articles, even those that were previously approved, by clicking the delete icon next to it.

Responding to Comments

Engaging with your readers builds community and encourages return visits:

  • Click Reply under any comment to post a threaded response.
  • Your replies as the article author are visually highlighted so readers can easily identify your responses.
  • You receive a notification when someone comments on your article, so you can respond promptly.

Comment Best Practices

  • Respond to genuine questions within a day or two to keep discussions active.
  • Do not ignore flagged comments -- review them regularly so legitimate contributions are not left waiting.
  • Keep the conversation constructive by setting the tone with your own thoughtful replies.

Disabling Comments

If you prefer not to receive comments on a particular article:

  1. Open the article in the editor.
  2. Find the Comments toggle in article settings.
  3. Turn it off.
Existing comments remain visible, but no new comments can be added. You can re-enable comments at any time.
