Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

Description

We are seeking a Backend Engineer help build secure and scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot for a major energy company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend development
• Strong production knowledge of Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and OpenAPI/Swagger
• Working knowledge of gRPC and Protobuf
• Good understanding of Kafka-based, event-driven architectures
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, and Redis
• Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and role-based access control
• Familiarity with JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers
• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
• Ability to integrate with external systems such as OIC, Salesforce, and SAP IS-U
• Experience migrating applications from older Java versions, such as Java 11
• Excellent English
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Work Conditions

• Employment Type: This is a full-time position for candidates who are based in Athens or willing to relocate. Both employees and independent contractors (freelancers) are welcome to apply.
• Location: This is a hybrid role with 2 days remote and 3 days on-site at offices in central Athens.
• Working Days: Aligned with the standard Greek work schedule.
