Senior PL/SQL Developer

G.N.T. Information Systems S.A. is a Greek software company with more than 25 years of experience, specialising in the development of complex IT projects, mainly in the telecommunications sector.

We are looking for an experienced Senior PL/SQL Developer to join our software development team and contribute to the design, development, and optimisation of enterprise applications based on Oracle technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code.
• Develop and optimise stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and database jobs.
• Analyse and improve the performance of SQL queries and database operations.
• Investigate production issues and provide effective, long-term solutions.
• Participate in database and application architecture decisions.
• Review existing code and contribute to its technical improvement and modernisation.
• Collaborate with Java developers, business analysts, and QA engineers.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and follow software development best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and provide guidance to less-experienced team members.

Required Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle Database and relational database design.
• Extensive experience with PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, cursors, and exception handling.
• Proven ability to diagnose and optimise complex SQL queries.
• Experience with execution plans, indexes, query tuning, and performance analysis.
• Good understanding of transactions, concurrency, locking, and data integrity.
• Experience with version-control systems such as Git.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluency in Greek and English.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Oracle administration and monitoring tools.
• Experience with data migration, ETL processes, or high-volume databases.
• Knowledge of REST and SOAP web services.
• Previous experience in mentoring developers or providing technical guidance.
