Dimitrios Diamantis

I'm an organic chemist with experience in cancer and senescent research. My research focused on the development of diagnostic and theragnostic probes emitting in the near infrared region. During my PhD thesis I developed and evaluated, via a plethora of analytical techniques, 16 diagnostic probes and 2 theragnostic prodrugs that are selectively activated and target tumor microenvironment.

These probes exhibited excellent photophysical properties and were used to visualised tumor in vitro and in vivo. During the aforementioned i acquired knowledge on the writing of scientific articles and international patents. Moreover, I gained through knowledge of common purification techniques including HLPC and column chromatography, as well as characterization techniques such as 1D/2D NMR spectroscopy, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy and MS spectrometry.

• Harvesting of plants rich in flavonoids and terpenoids from the region of Epirus and preparation of the aqueous and ethanolic extracts
• Evaluation of the antioxidant activity of the extracts using DPPH and Folin-Ciocalteu assays
• Spectroscopic determination of the total phenolic content in crude extracts via NMR spectroscopy
• Identification and qualification of the major and minor crude extract ingredients utilizing their NMR footprint

• Cleaning the laboratory and the equipment before and after the experiments to protect the samples from possible contamination
• Preparation and record of the samples for NMR and IR spectroscopy

3. Internship

• Implementation of daily chemical, microscopic, bacteriological, and physical water quality tests.
• Implementation of precised and accured validation and verifaction of on-line water quality process and control instrumentation used throughout the water treatment process.
