Build & Modernise Business-Critical Risk Technology

We are looking for an experienced Java Software Engineer to join a global Market Risk Technology team in Budapest.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the modernisation of a strategic Market Risk platform, while also supporting existing applications and business-as-usual requirements.

You'll work across development, technical design, database optimisation and production support while contributing to engineering standards and strategic technology initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Develop and modernise Java applications supporting Market Risk.
• Contribute to complex technology projects and strategic initiatives.
• Design solutions with performance, scalability and security in mind.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications.
• Work with large relational databases and optimise complex SQL queries.
• Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
• Apply strong software engineering practices and appropriate design patterns.
• Develop unit tests and contribute to overall code quality.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders across multiple regions.
• Support production applications and BAU requirements.
• Evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies where appropriate.
• Share technical knowledge and provide guidance within the engineering team.

What We're Looking For

✔ 5 years of hands-on Java development experience

✔ Strong experience with Java and Spring

✔ Strong relational database and SQL experience

✔ Experience with logical data modelling

✔ Strong object-oriented design and development skills

✔ Good understanding of data structures, algorithms and design patterns

✔ Experience efficiently querying large relational databases

✔ Experience writing unit tests, ideally with JUnit

✔ Ability to write scripts using Shell and/or Python

✔ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

✔ Ability to work independently while maintaining strong coding standards

✔ Good English communication skills and experience collaborating across global teams
