Tamàs Majnay

I am a Mechanical Design Engineer with over 10 years of experience in designing custom automated and semi-automated machines. My projects include assembly and screwdriving stations, leak-testing systems, camera-based AOI inspection cells, conveyor systems with lifts and labelling modules, as well as servo- and pneumatically actuated mechanisms and integrated robot solutions. I work mainly with Autodesk Inventor and have previously used PTC Creo extensively, applying engineering calculations and basic FEA to validate my designs.

Beyond 3D modelling, I take ownership of the full mechanical package: detailed drawings, BOMs, manuals and risk assessments, and I support manufacturing, assembly and on-site commissioning. Currently based in Budapest and actively looking for mechanical / machine design roles in Ireland.

1. Automation Design Engineer (Mechanical) – Bosch Rexroth Kft., Budapest, Hungary

Aug 2021 – Present (on parental leave since Jun 2025)

• Design of conveyor track systems using Bosch Rexroth TS components for automated production lines
• Development of semi-automated leak-testing machines for e-bike batteries and other automotive parts
• Mechanical design of camera-based AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) stations and labelling units
• Integration of collaborative robots (Kassow) into existing production equipment (end-of-arm tooling, guarding, fixtures)
• Use of Autodesk Inventor for 3D design, layouts and detailed manufacturing drawings
• Creation of full mechanical documentation: assembly and manufacturing drawings, BOMs, manuals, basic risk assessments
• Support for prototype build, troubleshooting and on-site commissioning

Mar 2013 – Aug 2021

• Mechanical design of automated and semi-automated special-purpose machines for automotive Tier 1 customers
• Development of assembly stations, leak-testing systems (including underwater leak tests) and manual workstations
• Design of cooling conveyor systems, chain cover assembly equipment and pre-assembly stations for engine components
• Integration of pneumatic components and basic servo drives into custom mechanisms and fixtures
• 3D design in PTC CREO and preparation of complete mechanical documentation (drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions)
• Cooperation with manufacturing and assembly teams, on-site installation support and machine acceptance

• M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (Machine Design & Manufacturing)
• 10+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in custom automated and semi-automated machines
• Strong background in special-purpose machinery for automotive Tier 1 suppliers
• 3D design with Autodesk Inventor and PTC Creo; supporting 2D layouts in AutoCAD
• Design of assembly and screwdriving stations, leak-testing systems and camera-based AOI inspection cells
• Experience with conveyor systems, including lifts and labelling modules
• Servo- and pneumatically actuated mechanisms and robot integrations (incl. collaborative robots)
