About this course
Suitable for junior design engineers working with customers or production teams. You will translate a request into measurable requirements, document constraints and interfaces, and flag safety, compliance or manufacturing questions for specialist input. The brief makes assumptions and next decisions easier to review. This module introduces the working rhythm of a design engineer: clarify the customer or production need, capture requirements, identify interfaces and risks, and leave a brief that another engineer can use. Before minute 5 you will create a first-day design intake card suitable for an interview or a real project kickoff. A design becomes defensible when its requirements, load cases, materials, and tolerances are connected. This module shows how to make those connections, how to work with analysts and manufacturing, and how to avoid the beginner’s mistake of treating nominal CAD geometry as proof of performance. This module follows a concept into a drawing, bill of material, manufacturing conversation, inspection plan, and supplier handoff. You will practice making design intent visible, finding process risks early, and preventing the common failure where the CAD model is complete but the product cannot be built or checked. Design work is not complete when the model is approved. This module covers verification planning, test readiness, commissioning feedback, fault investigation, engineering change, and evidence-based closure. It shows how to protect people and configuration while learning from real behavior. The final module brings design work into a repeatable operating rhythm: release readiness, production support, quality data, lessons learned, technical communication, and a first ninety-day plan. You will assemble an interview-ready evidence set while keeping safety, configuration, and professional limits visible.
