I am studying a BSc Hons at The University of Edinburgh in mathematical physics in the penultimate year of my degree. I am currently on an academic exchange at The California Institute of Technology (Caltech). I am eager to gain experience in industry and in research.
Undergraduate Research Assistant in Particle Physics, CMS Collaboration, Caltech. Set to begin a research project in Particle Physics for the Spring Term at Caltech under the supervision of Professor Harvey Newman.
School of Mathematics Summer Research Scholarship, The University of Edinburgh. (June-August 2024) Awarded a paid research scholarship by The University of Edinburgh. Supervised by Dr. Heather Yorston. I conducted research in mathematical modelling and produced a variety of different models that described the cooling rates of hot drinks under different conditions. This involved using python to produce time dependent animations of numerical solutions to partial differential equations, while also using analytic methods and theoretical physics to establish the mathematics to be modelled. I was particularly interested in modelling evaporative and convection boundary conditions numerically.
Mathematics Tutor for Caledonia Tutors (September 2023 – May 2024) Worked as a mathematics tutor for Higher and Advanced Higher Mathematics students in Edinburgh, Scotland. Responsibilities include preparing notes and questions for tutees, as well as developing strong communication skills to explain abstract concepts to students.
Software Validation at Dataworks Ltd. (Feb 2021) Here I gained experience building code on Visual Studio whilst also working with, and learning from employees at the company
Waiter at the Bagel Factory Waterford (Feb 2020) and Waiter and Bartender at Pier 37 bar & restaurant (Tower Hotel) Waterford (June-Aug 2023)
Currently a 3rd year student studying Mathematical Physics (BSc Hons) at The University of Edinburgh (Currently at Caltech on a study abroad). Current Average mark; 89% 1st Class Hons. (Transcript available upon request.)
3rd Year of University Abroad at The California Institute of Technology (Caltech). GPA : 4.1. I took graduate level theoretical physics classes on quantum mechanics, analytic mechanics and its applications, electrodynamics and mathematical methods of physics.
Irish Leaving Certificate Exams, achieving 613 CAO points at Higher level.
