I am an Electrical Engineer and PhD researcher at University College Cork with over ten years of academic, research, and industry experience in smart grids, renewable energy systems, and sustainable energy solutions. My work focuses on AI-driven energy management, demand response, and flexibility forecasting at the neighbourhood and energy community level.
Throughout my academic and professional career, I have been actively involved in the design, modelling, and optimisation of smart energy systems, including zero-energy buildings, smart cities, and high-penetration renewable integration. I have collaborated on national-scale projects such as smart power networks, pilot smart energy cities, and intelligent urban lighting systems, bridging theoretical research with real-world implementation.
My research interests lie at the intersection of power system analysis, artificial intelligence, and sustainable energy transitions. I am particularly interested in leveraging data-driven and AI-based approaches to enhance grid flexibility, improve energy efficiency, and support the development of resilient, low-carbon energy communities. Alongside research, I have extensive teaching experience and value interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge sharing, and practical impact.
I have over ten years of professional experience spanning academia, research, and industry in the field of electrical engineering and smart energy systems. My work has focused on smart grids, renewable energy integration, AI-driven energy management, and sustainable urban energy solutions. I have contributed to large-scale national and city-level projects, including smart power networks, zero-energy buildings, and intelligent lighting systems.
My experience includes energy system modelling, data analysis, demand response design, and flexibility forecasting, with a strong emphasis on applying artificial intelligence and advanced optimisation techniques to real-world energy challenges. In parallel, I have extensive teaching and academic support experience, delivering university-level courses and supervising student projects, while actively collaborating in interdisciplinary research environments.
My education has provided me with a solid foundation in power system analysis, control, optimisation, and data-driven methods, enabling me to bridge theoretical knowledge with applied research and industry-oriented solutions in sustainable energy systems.
