Engineering Manager - Data Platform

Job Description :

We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Manager to lead our global data engineering team from our Pune-based GCC.

This role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on building scalable data platforms using modern technologies like Databricks, Python, and big data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a distributed team of 8+ data engineers across geographies.
• Architect and oversee development of robust, scalable data pipelines and platforms.
• Collaborate with global stakeholders across Product, Data Science, and Business Analytics.
• Ensure high performance, reliability, and maintainability of data systems.
• Drive best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Mentor and coach engineers for technical growth and career development.
• Manage sprint planning, delivery timelines, and stakeholder communication.
• Promote a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software/data engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing engineering teams of 8+ members.
• Proven experience working with global or GCC-based development teams.
• Strong expertise in :
• Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Python for data workflows.
• Relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Delta Lake, Kafka).
• Solid understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills :

• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices in data environments.
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Certifications in cloud or data engineering platforms.
