InfoBeans Technologies - Backend Engineer - Python/FastAPI

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Python Backend Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, and microservices. The role involves migrating and refactoring existing APIs to Python/FastAPI while maintaining API contracts, functional parity, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Migrate and refactor existing REST APIs to Python and FastAPI, ensuring functional parity and backward compatibility.
• Maintain API contracts, request/response structures, business logic, and expected application behavior during migration.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs, microservices, and reusable components.
• Integrate backend services with existing applications, databases, and enterprise systems.
• Implement request validation, error handling, authentication, authorization, and API transformations.
• Develop asynchronous services and workflows using Python's async programming capabilities.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests using PyTest and related testing frameworks.
• Troubleshoot API failures, integration issues, performance bottlenecks, and production defects.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to implement efficient data access and persistence mechanisms.
• Containerize applications using Docker and support deployment in Kubernetes environments.
• Follow established standards for Git-based development, CI/CD, security, and application release management.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, DevOps, and product teams to ensure reliable delivery.
• Maintain technical documentation covering API specifications, migration decisions, integrations, and testing procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 3 - 8 years of experience in Python backend development or software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python and backend application development.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI and REST API development.
• Experience migrating, refactoring, or modernizing APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API contracts, backward compatibility, and service integrations.
• Experience with Python asynchronous programming, including async/await.
• Hands-on experience with PyTest, unit testing, and integration testing.
• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, input validation, error handling, and secure API design.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and deployment.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and standard software development practices.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
