Role Overview :
As a Java Production Support L2 Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for maintaining the stability and reliability of mission-critical Java-based applications. You will work closely with cross-functional development teams, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders to resolve complex production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and ensure seamless system availability. Your work directly impacts the end-user experience by minimizing downtime and optimizing application performance in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Resolve complex L2 production incidents by performing deep-dive debugging of Java-based applications to restore service within defined SLAs.
- Execute advanced SQL queries to investigate data inconsistencies, perform database health checks, and support data-related troubleshooting requests.
- Manage and monitor application performance on Unix/Linux environments, utilizing shell scripting to automate routine maintenance tasks and log analysis.
- Collaborate with L3 support and development teams to identify recurring technical bottlenecks and implement permanent fixes for production issues.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for incident resolution and knowledge base articles to improve the efficiency of the support team.
- Participate in on-call rotations and bridge calls to provide real-time technical support during critical system outages or deployment windows.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and debugging enterprise Java applications, with a strong understanding of JVM performance tuning and thread dump analysis.
- Proficient in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for relational databases to support production data investigations.
- Advanced command over Unix/Linux operating systems, including the ability to navigate file systems, manage processes, and write shell scripts for automation.
- Proven ability to handle high-pressure situations, with excellent communication skills to articulate technical issues to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to perform root cause analysis and translate technical findings into actionable business improvements.
- Candidates must possess between 6 to 12 years of relevant experience in production support environments and be comfortable working in a collaborative, on-site setup in Bangalore.
