About the Role :
Were looking for a SDE - III / Lead SDE who can architect, build, and scale the core systems powering FOXOs platform. This role goes beyond APIs, its about designing reliable, scalable, and intelligent systems that handle health data, power AI features, and support real-world user journeys. Youll work closely with Product, Frontend, and AI teams to turn ideas into robust backend systems.
What Youll Do :
- Own the backend architecture and core services end-to-end
- Design and build scalable APIs and microservices
- Work on data pipelines, integrations, and system reliability
- Power AI features through RAG pipelines, LLM integrations, and data orchestration
- Ensure performance, security, and scalability across systems
- Design clean database schemas and data models
- Handle third-party integrations (labs, devices, health data sources, etc.)
- Establish engineering best practices, code quality, and system design standards
- Collaborate closely with Product to convert use cases into working systems
- Mentor and guide backend engineers as the team grows
What Were Looking For :
- 6 years of strong backend development experience
- Expertise in Python & FastAPI
- Strong understanding of system design, APIs, and distributed systems
- Experience with databases (SQL NoSQL) and data modeling
- Hands-on experience building and scaling production systems
- Ability to own systems end-to-end, not just write code
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, slightly unstructured environment
- High ownership mindset - you take responsibility, not instructions
Good to Have :
- Experience with AI systems (LLMs, RAG, vector DBs like Pinecone/Weaviate/Chroma)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Experience handling data-heavy or real-time systems
- Exposure to healthtech / fintech / regulated environments
- Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and infra basics
