LKQ - Data Engineer - T-SQL/SQL Server

Role Overview :

The Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains database objects and data-integration solutions across a hybrid technology stack that spans established Microsoft SQL Server tooling and a growing set of modern data-engineering technologies. The role blends hands-on T-SQL development and relational database design with ETL work and active participation in the team's move toward migration-based, version-controlled database deployment.

Essential Job Duties :

• Write, review, and optimize T-SQL to a high standard.
• Design new databases and database objects - tables, indexes, views, constraints, and related structures with a strong eye for OLTP performance and data integrity.
• Develop and maintain stored procedures that carry application business logic.
• Participate in peer code review of database changes and stored procedures.
• Support the team's adoption of Flyway GitLab for database source control.
• Apply Git/GitLab workflows - branching, merge requests, and code review - to database development.
• Contribute to building out and refining the Flyway-based deployment process.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot SSIS packages, particularly self-contained SQL Server workflows.
• Develop and support ETL processes using Apache Airflow and Apache Spark for workloads that touch Parquet/Iceberg data.
• Independently analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues in real time.

Tech Stack & Requirements :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 - 7 years of hands on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and above).
• Strong command of T-SQL, database design, and stored-procedure implementation.
• Experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting SSIS packages.
• Working knowledge of Git/GitLab workflows and migration-based database changes.
• Preferred: Experience with Flyway, Dremio, Apache Iceberg, Python (Airflow/Spark), and CI/CD concepts.
