We are looking for a Software Developer who is excited by complex technical challenges and has a strong interest in building world-class cloud software. As a member of the Java Platform Development group, you will contribute to the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software systems across the stack. You should be comfortable working deeply across system layers, value simplicity and scalability, and be eager to learn and contribute in a team-oriented Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software for databases, applications, tools, networks, and related systems
- Contribute to the development and evolution of large-scale cloud and Java platform services
- Work with geographically distributed teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Help define and improve engineering practices, standards, and procedures
- Deliver complex projects on time with a strong focus on quality and reliability
- Provide technical direction and mentoring to team members where appropriate
Minimum Qualifications - 5 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale, highly available distributed cloud systems
- Strong experience in end-to-end cloud service design, implementation, and deployment
- Expert knowledge of Java, with experience building large-scale products or projects
- Strong understanding of concurrency
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems
- Working knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP and HTTP, and standard network architectures
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
- Familiarity with AI tools and experience developing agentic frameworks

Education BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Key Responsibilities Platform Software Development:
- Deliver minor enhancements to shared services, integration adapters, or SDK surfaces within defined guardrails.
- Apply compatibility/versioning rules during fixes and minor rollouts to protect downstream teams.
- Propose small observability/resilience improvements based on API/SDK usage signals for a subsystem.
Software Development and Coding - Design, Testing, and Optimization:
- Contribute to designing software solutions and analyze requirements to achieve business and operational goals, with limited guidance.
- Adhere to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Apply working knowledge to develop and review code for new software features and enhancements following design specifications and develop documents to clarify software design and code.
- Conduct debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix simple and moderately complex software issues.
- Develop fixes for identified issues.
- Implement software testing (e.g., functional testing), quality assurance processes, software error logging, monitoring, and observability for effective debugging, following established frameworks.
- Support the implementation of standard and non-standard performance profiling and optimization of coding.
- Troubleshoot and resolve standard and non-standard issues related to application programming interface (API) functionality and integration.
- Implement standard and non-standard API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.
Issue/Defect Collaboration - Software Products Support:
- Collaborate with own team and begin to network outside of team to understand customer issues and align solutions.
- May provide technical guidance and support to customers regarding customer-reported issues, with limited supervision.
- Assist peers to advocate for customers' interests and suggest product enhancements based on feedback.
- Influence efforts to ensure customer satisfaction through timely resolution of issues and effective communication.
- Utilize working knowledge to implement customer issue and/or defect handling and training processes, with some guidance.
- Collaborate with experienced colleagues to investigate and troubleshoot product maintenance issues to ensure customer agreement on short- and long-term solutions.
Practices and Standards Compliance - Security and Compliance:
- Begin to collaborate with the team to establish and follow development practices and coding standards.
- Assist in ensuring code quality and adherence to broad acceptance criteria during development.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of industry best practices and apply them to software development processes.
- Assist in implementing secure coding practices to prevent security vulnerabilities.
Development Operations - System Maintenance:
- Perform periodic maintenance and testing operations for systems that require upgrading or patching (e.g., for critical vulnerabilities), with limited guidance.
- Assist in driving improvements, ensure automation, testing, and debugging of systems to ensure service/product availability, health, support, and reliability.
Core Responsibilities Planning & Execution:
- Track timelines with minimal supervision, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner and is in alignment with project requirements. Prioritize and adjust work as resources or timelines change, with some guidance.
Collaboration & Partnership:
- Collaborate within a team to better understand expectations and achieve shared objectives. Leverage a foundational understanding of business, stakeholder, and/or customer needs to build partnerships with limited guidance. Actively listen and ask questions to enhance collaboration.
Problem Solving:
- Identify and address issues, escalating problems to senior staff as needed in accordance with standard procedures. Compile and review data and/or information from multiple sources to troubleshoot standard and non-standard errors.
Continuous Learning:
- Seek opportunities to gain knowledge and learn new skills and/or tools aligned with industry trends and best practices. Utilize feedback and training to improve skills. Participate in a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
Continuous Improvement:
- Implement updates to processes, protocols, and workflows to increase efficiency and effectiveness as directed with some guidance. Contribute to ideation for future process improvements.
